Ashley Nicolette Frangipane (born September 29, 1994), known professionally as Halsey. She drew attention with the music she published on social media platforms. After signing with the music group Astralwerks, she released her first EP, Room 93, in 2014. In 2016, The Chainsmokers’ top chart-topping single, Closer, in more than 10 countries was featured on Closer and was later certified 14× Platinum by the RIAA.

In 2020, Billboard reported that Halsey had sold over 1 million albums and received over 6 billion streams in the United States. She is known for her distinctive singing voice. Her awards include three Billboard Music Awards and a Billboard Female Music Award, an American Music Award, a GLAAD Media Award, an MTV Video Music Award and three Grammy Award nominations.

Halsey was named Songwriter of the Year by the BMI Film & TV Awards in 2021, on Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2020. Alongside music, she participated in suicide prevention awareness, sexual assault victims advocacy, and racial justice protests.

Ashley Nicolette Frangipane was born on September 29, 1994, in Edison, New Jersey, the daughter of Nicole and Chris Frangipane. Halsey played violin, viola and cello until she switched to guitar at age 14. She grew up listening to Alanis Morissette, Justin Bieber, and Brand New.

In January 2021, Halsey announced that she was expecting her first child with her partner, Turkish-American screenwriter Alev Aydın. Their son was born in July 2021.
